"Home Wind"Remember "The Song Of Hiawatha" ?
Thus departed Hiawatha, In the glory of the sunset, In the purple mists of evening, To the regions of the home-wind, Of the Northwest-Wind, Keewaydin To the Islands of the Blessed, To the kingdom of Ponemah, To the land of the Hereafter! When I name my paintings, I try to wait for the idea to float up in my mind. This painting was saying "home" to me. The horse turning for home, something, something... Perhaps my subconscious added "wind" to it. I thought, have I seen that somewhere? Put it into Google and "The Song of Hiawatha" came up. From the foggy past, I don't remember that much about the poem, since it's been centuries since I read it. It seemed to fit, so "Home-Wind" it is! This original acrylic on 12x12x2 canvas will be on view at The Juniper General Store in a week or two. Let me know if you think the name fits.
